Where do the Weimar Summer Courses take place?
The summer courses take place at the EJBW European Youth Education and Meeting Centre in Weimar (EJBW), Jenaer Str. 2/4, 99425 Weimar, Germany. This is also the official post address.
When should I arrive?
The official day of arrival is Sunday, 27 June 2010. Please let us know if you intend to arrive earlier or can only arrive later.
How do I find the EJBW?
The EJBW is a 20 minute walk from the railway station. A taxi costs around 5 Euro. If you let us know in advance when you will be arriving, we can arrange to pick you up from the Weimar railway station (between 9:00 and 22:00).
Where are the nearest airports?
The nearest international airports are in Berlin, Leipzig, Nuremberg or Frankfurt am Main. From there you need to take a train to Weimar (timetable information is available in several languages on the Deutsche Bahn / German Railways homepage: www.bahn.de).
Which countries do participants come from?
Past participants have come from many different countries in Europe as well as from Asia, North America and South America. In 2009 participants came from more than 25 countries.
Are vegetarian meals available?
Yes!
Are meals suitable for moslems available?
Yes!
Which meals are provided in the canteen?
Breakfast, lunch, afternoon coffee and cakes, and evening meal.
Is it possible to cook oneself in the EJBW?
Sorry, no.
Do the rooms have a separate bathroom/WC?
Yes, all the rooms have a separate bathroom with WC.
Do I need to bring my own bedding?
No, bedding is provided and is changed regularly.
Do I need to bring my own towel?
Yes, please do.
Is it possible to park at the EJBW?
Yes.
How many residents does Weimar have?
Weimar has a population of about 65,000.
What is the weather like in Summer?
In summer it can be warm but changeable, varying between 15 and 30 degrees celcius. It is cooler in the evenings. It is advisable to bring rainwear with you.
Is there an internet connection which I can use with my laptop?
Yes in the foyer of the canteen building. A login is available for free internet access.
Is there general internet and computer access?
Yes, in the foyer of the canteen building there are two terminals with internet access. There is also a computer room which is open most afternoons.
Are there any sports facilities one can use during free time?
Yes, on the EJBW grounds you can play tabletennis, volleyvall, badminton and basketball. You can also borrow a guitar if you wish.
When do I have to leave?
The official day of departure is Saturday, 10 July 2010. After breakfast we can give you a lift to the railway station if required. It is in principle possible to stay on longer, however you will have to pay for any additional days of accommodation.
